January 11, 2010
The Motley County Board of Trustees met on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 7:30pm in a regular scheduled board meeting. All board members were present except Don Baxter and Lewis Drum. Also present were Dr. Andrew Seigrist, Denise Ford, Blaine and Pat Smith.
Invocation was given by JD Russell
No one was present for Open Forum
Don Baxter, Lewis Drum entered at 7:45pm, Mr. Cochran entered at 7:55pm.
ITEMS FOR BOARD ACTION
A. Motion by Lewis Drum, seconded by Don Baxter to approve the Annual Audit (2008-2009) by Williams, Meriwether, Smith, LLP. Motion carried 6/0.
B. Motion by Don Baxter, seconded by Gilbert Guerrero to approve the minutes November 16 and November 23. Motion carried 6/0.
C. Motion by JD Russell, seconded by Don Baxter to approve the list of expenditures. Motion carried 6/0.
D. No action taken on the asbestos removal and abatement.
E. Motion by Don Baxter, seconded by Tina Brooks to approve the district technology plan. Motion carried 6/0.
F. Motion by Tina Brooks, seconded by Gilbert Guerrero to approve advertising for bids to put new roofs on the school houses, the RPSSA building and the front of the school building. Motion carried 6/0.
During the Superintendent’s report, Dr. Seigrist Acknowledged the HS boys’ football team for competing at the state semi-finals level. Motley County received 2nd place overall at the UIL competition held in Crowell for elementary and junior high. The Board Christmas party is Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009 in the multipurpose room at 7:00 p.m. Motley County is in compliance with the TEA State Performance Plan Indicators. School Reach communication system for the district has been purchased to enhance notification of parents, students and faculty in case of bad weather, school delays and additional pertinent school information. The new cafeteria equipment is scheduled to arrive the first week of January. The new appraisal values are complete, waiting on the insurance company to compile new rates for the adjusted increased values.
Principal’s report. Attendance is 98% and the enrollment is 184.
