January 20, 2010
The Motley County Board of Trustees met on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 7:30pm in a regular scheduled board meeting. All board members were present. Also present were Dr. Seigrist, William Cochran, Pat Carson, Lee Jones, Kyla Simpson and Melissa Flores.
Invocation was given by Gilbert Guerrero
Lee Jones affirmed the Oath of Office to execute the duties and responsibilities of the office of school board trustee.
No one was present for Open Forum
Student Council presented to the board a proclamation in honor of School Board Recognition Month.
ITEMS FOR BOARD ACTION
A. Motion by Lewis, seconded by Tina to accept the new updated values on building and facility coverage and pay the appropriate premium rate increase out of fund balance. Motion carried 7/0.
B. Motion by Don Baxter, seconded JD Russell to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. Motion carried 7/0.
C. Motion by Lewis Drum, seconded by Gilbert Guerrero to approve the list of expenditures and review of financial statements. Motion carried 7/0.
D. Motion by Don Baxter, seconded by Gilbert Guerrero to approve the additional members of the Student Health and Advisory Committee. Motion carried 7/0.
E. Motion by Lewis Drum, seconded by JD Russell to approve the bids on properties as outlined in documents from Elaine Hart. Motion carried 7/0.
Principal’s report. Enrollment is 178 and the attendance is 97.4%.
During the Superintendent’s report, Dr. Seigrist announced to the board upcoming conferences which include
Mid-Winter 2010 TASA/TASB conference in Austin, Texas, Jan. 24-28, 2010, TREA Summer Conference in
Ft. Worth, TX – June 16-20, 2010. The new stove and ovens are installed and in place in the cafeteria. School
Board Team Training – Team of Eight will be given locally by Dr. Seigrist. TEA is developing a new database
for PEIMS reporting. School Reach communication system is up and running. Several teachers, Mr. Cochran
and Dr. Seigrist will be attending T3 Career and Technology required training February 8-11th. Motley County
is currently receiving bids for copier contract, bus purchase project and a reroofing project. Motley County ISD
will have a public auction on January 29th starting at 10:00am, items include stove, oven and deep fryer.
County Stock Show is February 13th. Dr. Seigrist informed the board of C-Scope curriculum supported by
Region 17. The school website now features pictures as well as the latest information.

A. Personnel- No Action Taken
B. Motion by Lewis Drum, seconded by Don Baxter to extend Dr. Seigrist contract an additional 1 year and approve a 3% cost of living raise and pay insurance beginning July 1st. The board also approved school phone use for both personal and professional use for Dr. Seigrist and Mr. Cochran. Motion carried 7/0.
Motion to Adjourn by Lewis Drum, seconded by Don Baxter. Motion carried 7/0.
